American Academy of Dermatology Diversity Mentorship Program


  • One-on-one mentorship experience with a dermatologist of the student’s choice from a list of mentors

    • One month, 160 hour requirement

  • Third- and fourth-year medical students underrepresented in medicine highly encouraged to apply to enhance their dermatology residency applications.

    • The AAD recognizes the following groups to be underrepresented in dermatology: Black/African-American, Hispanic, Latino, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander

  • Select a mentor before you apply. Mentors can be chosen by contacting a dermatologist from the AAD’s online mentor list or by reaching out directly to an AAD member.  Applicants must contact and receive mentor’s approval prior to submitting an application.

  • Program recipients will receive a $1500 stipend.

  • Applications are due December 1, 2017
