The yearly patient conference of the International Pemphigus and Pemphigoid Foundation (IPPF) will be held in Burlingame, CA on the weekend of April 26-28th, 2013 (http://www.pemphigus.org/get-involved/annual-meetings/2013-patient-conference/). Pemphigus and Pemphigoid are rare blistering skin diseases and the IPPF is the pre-eminent global organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of all people diagnosed with, or affected by, pemphigus or pemphigoid (www.pemphigus.org).

To support research into the genetics and immune dysregulation of Pemphigus vulgaris, our research team at the University at Buffalo, NY, under the leadership of Animesh A. Sinha, MD, PhD, has been organizing recurrent blood draws for patients participating at yearly conferences organized by the IPPF.

This FREE iPhone app was designed to help connect patients who have skin conditions or hair loss with patient advocacy groups who can provide resources and support for them. With just a few clicks of the screen, providers can send an email to patients containing the contact information of advocacy groups and even how to sign-up to receive upcoming newsletters from the group. Please note, sender's email address is protected being sent from a "do-not-reply" address. Skin Advocate was developed by several physicians, including two dermatologists, and is supported by the Society of Investigative Dermatology. The app has been featured is several publications including The Dermatologist and Dermatology World - the official journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

AIM for the CURE - Melanoma Walk

Fullerton, CA will host it's first annual walk/run fundraiser for melanoma on May 12, 2013. There is no fee to participate, but each walker is encouraged to raise at least $50. Door prizes will be given. Register by April 1st, and you can receive a FREE t-shirt!

One-to-two year position is available (salary plus benefits) as a clinical research post-doctoral fellow in one of the top dermatology and pediatric dermatology programs in the country, and it is based at a leading children’s hospital. Clinical and Translational Research Opportunity at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center We are seeking a medical student (MS III or greater at inception of position) or MD for the opportunity to perform clinical and translational research at the Department of Dermatology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. The individual will have the chance to work with two faculty members engaged in clinical and translational research in autoimmune diseases. Due to recent ACGME approval to increase the size of our training program, the Johns Hopkins Dermatology Residency Training Program will have at least 2 positions available beginning July 1, 2013. We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated to train in dermatology and are eligible to begin as PGY2 or PGY3 this coming July.

MD Clinical Research Fellow at the Department of Dermatology at the University of California Davis: This is a one-year, full-time clinical research fellowship, from July 2013 through June 2014. This fellowship will provide ample opportunities to engage in various aspects of clinical research, including designing research projects, working with the Institutional Review Board, caring for research patients, and writing manuscripts.
